Your U.S. Clinical Rotation: An Immersive Experience

The ISP Initiative offers a broad-based clinical experience situated in a dynamic, office-based private practice. This setting provides a unique and valuable contrast to large, institutional environments, offering a focused look at the day-to-day realities of primary care and ambulatory surgery in the United States.

The practice is structured to maximize learning opportunities. With a volume of 12-15 patients on clinical days, you will have ample time for meaningful interaction and in-depth case discussion. The schedule typically includes four to four-and-a-half days of clinical activity per week, with one full day reserved for observing and participating in the care surrounding office-based outpatient procedures. This dedicated procedural day offers a concentrated, high-yield experience in ambulatory surgery from pre-operative assessment to post-operative management.

Core Learning Objectives & Hand-On Experience

Our curriculum is designed to equip you with the tangible skills and practical knowledge that are most valued by U.S. residency programs. You will:

Master Patient Interaction & Diadnosis:

Move beyond theory to learn the art and science of taking thorough patient histories and performing comprehensive physical assessments for a diverse patient population. You will actively participate in the process of assessing and diagnosing patients, helping to formulate treatment plans under the direct supervision of Dr. Hill.

U.S. Healthcare System Proficiency:

Gain essential, hands-on experience with a modern Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system—a non-negotiable skill for any physician practicing in the U.S. today. This experience is complemented by exposure to the administrative aspects of a medical practice, including an introduction to American insurance processes, providing practical insights that extend far beyond clinical care.

Developing Surgical & Procedural Acumen:

Observe the complete lifecycle of office-based surgical and endoscopic procedures. You will learn about patient preparation, sterile technique, and the performance of the procedures themselves. Crucially, you will be actively involved in the pre- and post-operative care of patients, a key component of surgical training.

Acquiring Essential Practical Skills:

This program provides a rare opportunity for direct, hands-on experience in fundamental clinical skills. With guidance and supervision, you will practice and refine your technique in blood drawing and suturing, building both your competence and your confidence.

Embracing Preventive Medicine:

Understand the critical role of preventive care and patient education in the American healthcare model. You will learn how to effectively counsel patients on lifestyle, screenings, and other preventive measures to promote long-term health and wellness.

A Typical Week in the Program

Your weekly schedule is designed to be a balanced and intensive blend of activities. You can expect to spend four to five days at the clinic, where your time will be divided between direct patient care in the examination room, procedural observation and assistance, and dedicated one-on-one learning sessions with Dr. Hill. The patient caseload is intentionally managed to foster a rich teaching environment rather than a high-volume, impersonal one. This structure ensures you are not just an observer, but an active participant in the intellectual life of the practice.
